Townfall Patch 1.6.0 Released
Survive Your Way
Since launch, we've been listening closely to player feedback and watching streams and playthroughs. With the latest update to SILENT HILL: Townfall (v 1.6.0), we've expanded the game's difficulty options to give players greater control over how they experience its terrifying encounters.
There are now four distinct difficulty modes, each carefully designed and balanced around different approaches to survival, giving players somewhere to go should they find their current experience too challenging, or not challenging enough.
For players who want to immerse themselves in the mystery without quite so much punishment, Story offers a more forgiving experience, with fewer enemies, reduced damage, and more freedom to explore without the constant threat of discovery.
Normal provides a balanced experience where combat is a viable option, with some adjustments to available resources to support this approach, albeit not without risk. “Fight when you can, evade when you have to.” A word of warning, though: we've restored The Weight's ability to kill instantly on contact in this mode, now that a wider range of difficulty options are available and his behaviour has been refined and improved since launch.
The newly introduced Hard difficulty shifts the emphasis towards stealth, rewarding patience and careful use of resources. “Evade when you can, fight if you have to.” Enemies have increased health, deal more damage, and are more sensitive to sounds made by the player, but without some of the more punishing mechanics found in Nightmare.
For those who really want to test their survival instincts, Nightmare delivers the most punishing challenge, with tougher, even more perceptive enemies, greater consequences for mistakes, and encounters that demand an especially cautious approach. It's not for the faint-hearted, and certainly not recommended for a first playthrough!
Importantly, these changes aren't simply about making the game easier or harder. We've carefully revisited how enemies behave, react, and challenge the player, creating more distinct experiences that allow Townfall's combat, stealth, and exploration systems to shine. Together with a range of other improvements and bug fixes, these changes help bring the intended experience into sharper focus.
So whether you're here for the story, here for the scares, or “here to be punished”, there's now a nightmare with your name on it. And remember, you can freely adjust the difficulty at any point during your playthrough.
